Dutch Courage

A hypothetical:

What if we had a President who wanted to provide funds to an unpopular foreign guerilla army? Congress refused to provide him with the funds needed, so he illegally and secretly sold weapons to a terrorist, enemy country in order to get around our democratic system of government. What if, as the transaction was occurring, our president publicly asserted that no such thing was happening?

If such a set of circumstances came to pass, what would constitute a just punishment for such a president? What are the chances that such a president might remain the hero of Republicans, despite his treason?

Gavin, That already happened. Nothing happend to Reagan. It was the Iran-Contra affair in the 1980's. That was what was beleived to have freed the hostages from our Embassy in Tehran from 1979 to 1980, some 445 days.
Read your history!! ( ha ha ha) just giving you a hard time. Please don't take it personal. Anyway, you and I know that nothing will happen. It takes a lot to get impeached from Presideny. I mean you have to have sex or something like that in order to get that to happen. Lying to congress about WMD's and sending thousands to their deaths based on a lie will not get you into any trouble. So, forget trying to get King George into trouble or his court Jester ( Cheney) as well. It won't work.
The only answer to this mess is to get out as quickly as you can with out turning Iraq and the surrounding area into the 2000's version of the 1970's and 1980's version of the killing fields post Vietnam.

You might want to reconsider your heading. As I understand it, "Dutch" is Midwestern slang for Deutsch or German. So really this would be an identity slur based on ethnic heritage. Is that what you might to say?

FYI, "Dutch" was Regan's nickname from childhood. That's what I inferred the meaning was when I saw the headline.

Since when is "Dutch" slang for German in the Midwest? I've lived here for 40 years and I've never heard that. Even if it was, how is it a slur to call someone German?

PS: Reagan is the most overrated president of the last century.
